My sister Monica has been diagnosed with breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma). Over the next 6 months, she will be undergoing chemotherapy to reduce the tumor, a lumpectomy to remove it, and radiation to ensure that it's gone. During that time, she will need to pay for the high cost of treatment, surgery, medications, recovery and other unforeseen expenses, beyond what is covered by insurance.
