Monica's Battle: A Family's Plea for Help

Donation protected
Recently, my Aunts hosted a wonderful luncheon for their nieces and nephews who were in the area. I had not seen my cousin, Monica, for a while and so it was fun to catch up with her and our family.

A few weeks ago, I learned that Monica had been admitted to the hospital on November 6th as she had contracted the Rhino Virus. While the Rhino Virus can be a minor medical event, such as a bad cold, it can also be devastating.

Unfortunately, their story has been devastating.

The extremely difficult time of breathing, followed by complications which led to her being intubated, in and out of medically induced comas to keep her body comfortable, ...and all while trying to fight off the serious infection which had developed.

Monica remains on a paralytic and is connected to a breathing apparatus as she continues to fight for her life.

I would like to tell you a little bit about Monica and these are the words that came from her husband, Jeff, when asked to tell us about his wife:

My Wife – My Love
Monica is the kind of person that most people like immediately. She loves to give money to the person at the stoplight with the cardboard sign or just someone who looks a little down in spirit. She would always have a kind word for strangers who needed a smile as a pick-me-up. She always thinks of others before herself. For over 42 years now, she has been my best friend in this crazy world. For the last 39 years she has been my wife.

Together we raised our 2 beautiful children. Our wonderful daughter, Elisha, was born with a terminal illness called Niemann Pick Disease. She greeted this world with smiles and love every day of her life until she went home to live with Jesus in 2014. Elisha was 20 years old.
Monica was so moved by our daughter’s special needs that she went on to work with other special needs children and has been doing so for the last 9 years. She has a special kind of love for them, and this has become her passion.

For the last 7 years Monica has worked in Marin County with Autistic K-12 children. She mostly focuses on helping to transition young adult children with their lives after they age out of school. She has made such a difference in so many lives.

Our amazing son, Daniel, also has a passion for nurturing special needs children. He lives in Marin and works tirelessly with these special needs children giving from his big heart every day.
I am so proud of my wife and son for making a difference in these children’s lives every day. It takes a special kind of person to do this kind of work.

Today, as the family continues to pray for a miracle, Jeff and Monica need your help. They both love the Lord and completely trust Him to take care of Monica, and all the family needs now and in their future.

As Monica continues to recover, her journey will be long and incredibly challenging with extensive rehabilitation and specialized care and we would like to humbly ask for your help in sharing this story.

If you would like to donate any amount to help with their medical and outside expenses which have originated from the crushing symptoms of this Virus, this too, will be genuinely appreciated.

These funds will go directly to help lessen the mounting financial pressures as Monica’s medical care and rehabilitation continues.

~ Thank you so much for your love, support and prayers.
