Monica's Battle with Breast Cancer

On March 17, 2017, my life took a sharp turn from the trajectory I had planned. It all started when I received my diagnosis: Stage 2/HER2 positive Breast Cancer. This diagnosis was devastating and at the same time, I received another piece of harsh news: I was losing my job. That was the low point of my entire life; I felt depressed and there appeared to be no way out. In the midst of all this, I had to communicate with and explain what was happening to my nine-year old daughter, Nile.
My condition being as dire as it was, caused the doctors to be extremely aggressive in the way that they decided to treat me. It took four biopsies and a slew of doctor visits, but on April 13, 2017, I was ready to begin chemotherapy. Throughout all this, I was doing everything that I could to find a job, searching and interviewing on a continuous basis but to no avail. Due to multiple doctor visits and the high costs of my insurance co-payments my savings were depleted.
After months of unemployment I have finally been blessed to find a job. However, due to the effects of the chemotherapy and the necessity of repeated treatments I am only able to work part-time. Chemotherapy has caused my health condition to take a major hit and deteriorate quickly leading to constant dizziness, nose bleeds, lightheadedness, and unbearable nausea. Even with my limited job responsibilities and part-time schedule there are days that my condition prevents me from working at all. Simple daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and bathing become extremely difficult due to my weakness.
Recently, my life has become more strenuous than ever. The bills are piling up higher and higher, and it has all become impossible to keep up with. Only halfway through my treatment and scheduled for surgery in September, I am in desperate need of assistance.
This is where you come in. I am turning to you, my friends and family, for help raising $25,000.00. These funds will greatly alleviate the pressure that I am under at this moment. Every dollar counts toward this effort. No one should feel alone as they fight this type of battle. I CHOOSE to FIGHT.
