Hi, my name is Jade and I’m fundraising to help my mom with her finances while she recovers from the latest round of complications stemming from a near fatal car accident when she was 12. Dozens of surgeries and over three decades later, she has once again been admitted to Penn Presbyterian in Philadelphia battling another serious case of cellulitis with a terrifying possibility that the infection has made its way into her cheekbone. If that is the case, she will have to endure more surgeries and a long recovery. Making an already terrible situation even worse is the fact that her body is resistant to antibiotics and she is facing an uphill battle to rid herself of the bacteria making her so sick. At this point, her surgeon has brought infectious disease on board in an effort to identify the exact strain of bacteria so that they can treat her with the right antibiotics. She is confident her team will accomplish this but it will take time. This and the looming possibility of more surgeries is inevitably going to impact her finances and I would like to try to get ahead of it. Times are tough for so many and this falling right before Christmas makes it all that much harder to ask for help but it’s the only way I can think to take some of the stress off of her so that she can focus on healing. The funds will go toward living expenses for her and my little sister and hopefully provide a cushion for whatever out of pocket medical expenses she will face in the near future.
