Monica Romano - Critical Covid Patient Relief Fund

Donation protected
Monica Romano, who is my sister-in-law, contracted Covid-19 and has been in the hospital now for over a month and is in very critical condition.  She officially  tested positive for Covid-19 on 11/24/20 and went to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB hospital) on 11/27/20.  She was immediately admitted to the Covid floor and initially required minimal oxygen via nasal cannula.  This was especially worrysome for everyone because she was 11 weeks pregnant at the time and would currently be 16 weeks.  On around December 7th, her condition began to significantly worsen and she was intubated and rushed to the Covid ICU at UAB.  At this point, we naturally lost contact with her and began getting updates on her condition through her family, Chris and Curtis Sharp, in Sacramento, California.  Since that time she has continued to be intubated, sedated, proned 16 hours per day, paralyzed, and now is receiving dialysis.  Her condition has waffled between hopeful and worsening on a day to day basis.  None of this can be good for her unborn child, which we are told is still hanging in there with mom.  Monica is a wonderful person and has been a phenomenal Aunt to our kids and a beloved family member.  It was completely serendipitous that she lived here near us in Birmingham and has been one of the highlights of our move here back in 2012.  It has allowed us as a family to really get to know her and now we don't know what the future may hold.  When she finally begins her post-covid recovery it is likely she will require a fair amount of rehab in addition to attempting to piece her life back together, all while having a child on the way.  Financially, this entire situation will be devastating for her and we unfortunately do not have the means to help.  Her family in California has been covering her bills up to this point but also have limited means to help as well.  Any help we can muster would be absolutely fantastic and would be greatly appreciated.  We know that everyone is dealing with troubles this year but even a small donation can make a world of a difference!  Thank you in advance!
