Donation protected
On September 5, 2022, we lost one of the brightest lights any of us could have known. A heart for service with an ever-ready smile, Monica Casado was adored by anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Monica and her husband, Ed, were avid music fans, never missing an Austin City Limits Festival or SXSW. In addition, she loved--and had quite the collection of-- art, tie-dye, and vintage Christmas trees.
Although Monica had retired, her love of special education and her students never ceased. Her connection with her students extended beyond any classroom, as she continued working with many of them as they became young adults.
Monica also enjoyed working alongside friends at the Texas Governor's Mansion for many years. She was among the hardest workers, always willing to go the extra mile or the extra hour(s)--and always with a smile. There, she was a fixture. She was a fixture everywhere she went, and her positive presence will be forever missed.
While Monica loved everything mentioned above, there was nothing she loved more than her adoring husband, Ed, and son, Phynix.
For those who wish to contribute, all funds raised will help her family offset medical bills, memorial expenses, and improvements to make their home more accessible for Ed (an injured veteran)--a project he and Monica had been saving for. Any donations, big or small, are greatly appreciated.
