Help with funding for Mongolian Field School
Donation protected
In 2018, I started a journey. I enrolled in a Ph.D. Program in Heritage Studies at Arkansas State University. Over the past six years, I have studied various aspects of heritage and conservation. I am particularly interested in the intersection of tangible and intangible cultures. More specifically, I am interested in the origins and evolution of objects, travel narratives, food culture, and how they all fit together. My dissertation examines how tea culture evolved during the Tang Dynasty and eventually emerged into pop culture. I learned that Mongolia was very instrumental in bringing it to the world stage. Centuries later, it is the beverage of choice around the world. My dissertation is currently under review and I hope to graduate in August.
Recently, I was awarded a partial fellowship to spend 3 weeks at a field school in Mongolia. This travel experience will allow me to continue the research I embarked on while writing a dissertation. I am raising funds to cover the rest of the tuition and travel.
I will be traveling with my camera and plan on keeping a formal travelogue. I will share a copy with those who support my efforts.
