Money to pay for adenoidtonsilectomy privately

Hi my name is Katie and I am trying to raise money to pay for my sons surgery.

In February 2020 Konrad was 7 months old, he got a virus and was really poorly for about 8 weeks. This started prior to the coronavirus pandemic being a major concern in the UK however looking back in hindsight it is very likely he had caught coronavirus. He was struggling to breath and had raging temperatures. He was admitted to hospital twice. When he started to recover his breathing monitor started to go off at nighttime, I thought at first he was getting big for it so added a second mat. Then when it went off and I went in I saw he wasn’t breathing I pulled him up and he started to breath again. I took him to the doctors and they said to monitor it, it was happening regularly and he was referred to Preston hospital. We had to wait due to lockdown and he was first seen in June. They said they couldn’t look in his mouth due to the risks of covid. Then we were only given phone consultations and Konrad was getting poorly regularly needing to go to a&e.

one of these visits they looked in his mouth and said that his tonsils were so big that his whole throat was closed. They contacted the consultant who then made an ENT referral. There was another waiting list to wait for which meant even More hospital admissions, incidences where his tonsils were so big and sore that he was bleeding from the mouth, unable to eat and drink due to the pain, resulting in urine infections aswell as tonsillitis and still recurrent sleep apnoea. It was August 2021 before he was seen by ENT, the consultant looked in his mouth and said they need to come out. Funding was approved and he was placed on yet another the waiting list.

iv been calling and chasing it up ever since, I just keep getting different information from different people, the consultant advised me to try a different hospital but the performance manager said I run the risk of waiting even longer due to wait lists. All because of covid apparently. I was told july-august by 1 person and another told me it’s going to be atleast another 20 weeks.

iv been provided an estimated quote of £3500 for consultation and his surgery to be done at Manchester spire hospital, I can’t afford that so seeing if anyone is prepared to and able to help. i know it’s a long shot especially with everyone’s costs going up but every little bit of support helps.
