Technology Student Association Nationals

Hello, my name is Camila Yanes but I go by Cami. I am currently a student a Peachtree Ridge High School and am a senior. I have been accepted into UGA and am still awaiting a few more college decisions but I believe that the best way to end my k12 education is to participate in this national competition.

I am an officer to my school's Technology Student Association (TSA) and we recently participated in the Georgia TSA State Leadership Conference. My school was recognized by numerous other schools, state officers, and even won 7th place in the Overall Chapter award. With our many trophies, we qualify for nationals.

The Technology Student Association National competition is a competition that will take place in Orlando, Florida. This event will allow me to compete not just against others in the state of Georgia, but with others from all over the country.

That being said, I come from a middle-income family and my only financial support is my mother. The trip totals to around $800 which is way above our budget. I am currently in Free & Reduced Lunch, thus, my school has helped me out with previous trips but considering this is Nationals, I am not going to be able to receive enough funding to go on the trip.

I want to go to Nationals not only to receive closure from high school, but also to compete in the following events: Music Production and On Demand Video.

At the Student Leadership Conference I placed 5th out of 32 entries for Digital Video Production, 10th out of 39 entries for Music Production, 14th out of 44 entries for Extemporaneous Speech, and 8th out of 65 entries for On Demand Video.

I will truly appreciate any funding I can get so that I can join my peers and fellow officers in this wonderful experience in Orlando.
