Help Bring Moon Back From the Brink
Hi everyone,
I never thought I'd be writing something like this — but here we are.
Moon is our 6-year-old cat. She’s more than just a pet — she’s my daughter’s best friend, a gentle, quiet little soul who’s been with us through thick and thin. When life got messy, Moon was our calm.
But a few weeks ago, life got turned upside down.
Due to some ongoing financial struggles, our family was moved into temporary accommodation. It’s been hard on all of us — especially the kids — but we’ve tried to keep it together. In the chaos of moving, Moon slipped out into the communal stairwell. Neighbours, not knowing she was ours, shooed her away — and just like that, she was gone.
We searched everywhere. Days turned into weeks. No sign. Six weeks later, after storm Florrie rolled into Aberdeen with its freezing rain and howling winds, we finally found her — hiding between houses, soaking, skeletal, and petrified.
When we picked her up, she was unresponsive, limp, unable to stand or even react to our touch. We rushed her to the emergency vet, terrified we were already too late.
They’ve done everything they can: bloodwork, x-rays, fluids, emergency care through the night. She's alive — but barely. Her body is shutting down from severe malnutrition, exposure, and trauma. She even lashed out in panic when I tried to help her stay upright on the vet table — biting deep enough that I needed a tetanus shot and antibiotics myself.
She’s fighting. And we’re fighting for her. But we can’t do it alone.
The current bill is now sitting at £2,000 and growing with every hour of care. We’re trying to do what’s right for Moon — to give her the fighting chance she deserves — but we’re drowning. We’re still trying to get our lives back in order, and now we’re faced with a vet bill that’s impossible for us to cover alone.
So we’re reaching out. If you can help in any way — £1, £5, or even just by sharing this post — you’re helping save Moon’s life.
She's still got fight in her. And I can’t bear the thought of telling my daughter that we couldn't save her.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for caring. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you.

With love,
Moon’s family in Aberdeen
