Hello, my name is Shahem Mclaurin. I am raising money on behalf of my disabled mother who has extensive damage to her home.

She was able to receive a grant from Baltimore City to cover an overwhelming majority of the repair costs, but they are asking her to take out a loan to cover the remaining balance in order to move forward with repairs. My mother is on SSI

and thus incapable of paying back the proposed loan of $5,000 in the time the city is requesting. Since she is on a fixed income, it is my hope that my community can help to raise the funds.

My mother is responsible for often taking care of my nieces and nephews and while the living conditions are unsafe for her, they're also unsafe for them. I am attaching below the opening document form Baltimore City's work write-up, but cannot provide too many screenshots because they contain images of her home and address and I want to protect my family's privacy and safety.

UPDATE: The grant is now covering $25,000 of the estimated $44,300 expenses. New goal is $20,000 with the hope to cover as much outside of a loan as possible.
