A little over a year ago, my partner and I were both laid off from the same company. During this layoff, we were on the other side of the country, traveling to California for a company-sponsored Hackathon, when we were suddenly terminated, and our company cards shut off– only being turned back on for our safe return because we had to beg and ask other teammates to pester leadership.

Before our termination, we were involved in a months-long, drawn-out harassment report against a fellow teammate who made transphobic remarks while intoxicated, all while refusing to leave my hotel room during my first on-site meeting at this company's campus. He made working at Meta Reality Labs a living hell for us.

Because of the reasons above, in addition to the impact of witnessing hate speech and bullying within XR platforms, we refused our severance and outwardly spoke out about our past company's unethical practices that continue to harm marginalized groups.

The money we refused was upwards of $60,000, and for the last year, we have been relying on unemployment and the generosity of family, but now we need help.

Our immediate needs are:

– Health Insurance Payment for November: $1700

– Mortgage Payment for November: $2000
