Hello friends and family. We are reaching out for Monica (Greene) Wright, a true fighter who underwent a life-saving double lung transplant on June 13, 2025.
For over 15 years, Monica has faced the unimaginable; living with a rare autoimmune disorder that slowly caused pulmonary hypertension. What most of us take for granted - something as simple as breathing - became a daily struggle for her.
Despite it all, she never gave up. Even on her hardest days, Monica has continued to work for Decatur City Schools as a psychometrist, caring for her students, she smiled, pushed through, and inspired those around her with her strength, kindness, and compassion. To know her is to love her.
After being placed on the transplant list on May 6, 2025, just a month and 5 days, Monica got the call she had been waiting on, yet, dreaded. Around 8:30 on June 11, 2025 Monica received a call from the UAB Heart and Lung Transplant team notifying her that she was a potential match. Then on Friday, June 13, 2025, Monica underwent a double lunch transplant - a monumental surgery that has given her a second chance at life.
Praises to Lord for his miracles and for the journey He has placed her on.While we are beyond grateful for this miracle, recovery from a transplant is a long and difficult road, physically, emotionally, and financially.
The costs are overwhelming with a life-saving surgery and hospitalization, anti-rejection medications, frequent follow-up appointments, tests, and labs, travel, lodging, and meals for post-transplant care.
We're humbly asking for you support - any donation, big or small, will go directly to Monica's medical expenses and recovery needs. We are asking above all else for your prayers for her and her family during this time. She is exceptional and know she is going to continue to do exceptionally well. Your support helps give Monica no just lungs - fur a future. A change to breathe, to walk, to laugh, to live and to love! From the bottom of all our hearts, thank!
