Hi,

My name is Vishwa Perera. One of my favorite uncles, Channa Alwis, died when he was vacationing in New Zealand in February. I am very sad about it and I miss him very much. He used to give me a lot of good advice and tell me about what Buddhism teaches. Just before he died, he donated money to build a monastery for Buddhist Nuns in Sri Lanka.

On my birthday this year (August 20), instead of having a party or presents, I want to raise money to donate to help finish building that monastery. Only the foundation is complete and I uploaded a photo.

The project is managed by his wife Chandrani Alwis and I have named her in this fundraiser as the person who will receive the money. She has a team in Sri Lanka who will make sure that the money is carefully used toward the project. She showed us many photos of the work - most of the work is done by the villagers who are volunteers.
