In Honor of Ramona Whittington

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4).  On Tuesday April 14, 2015 our beloved sister, mother, and friend, Ramona Whittington, passed away suddenly in her sleep. Ramona leaves behind five adorable children, Dajah - 18, Darryl - 11, Danyla - 8, Daisy - 5, and the youngest, Dakota, a beautiful baby girl who just turned two months on the day of her mother’s passing.

Mona was a free spirit. She was kind, loving, and nurturing and always willing to give a helping hand. She loved helping people. As a single mother she did her best to provide for her children. She absolutely loved and adored her children. Most importantly, she loved being a mother! She once said that she felt her purpose in life was to bare children, to reproduce, to keep her family growing and multiplying. And that’s exactly what she did, because two months after giving birth to her fifth child, at age 35, the Lord took her away. Her job was done. She fulfilled her life’s purpose. But now these five children are left with no mother. Not to mention, just four months ago, Mona lost her own mother. So these children are now without a mother and a grandmother in just a time span of four short months. Tragic.

Ramona came from a pretty small but close-knit family.  The family pulled together and put in for Mona’s funeral expenses because there was no life insurance. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23 at Elmwood Community  Methodist Church at 4523 Chester Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. Her family can really use your help to bounce back.  The purpose of this GoFundMe account is to take some of the burden off the family. Ramona’s children are going to need a lot throughout the years to come, such as food, clothing, shelter, schooling, and the list can go on. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for her family, so her children can continue living normal, comfortable lives, similar to what their mom provided. Ramona’s eldest daughter Dajah, a high school senior, is attending Shaw University this fall. Your donations will also help Dajah go off to college!

Your good hearts will do wonders for this family.
