Running for my Dad's Cancer!!!
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
This has not been a good year so far for my family. On January 9 my Dad had a massive heart attack. The doctors told us that he is lucky to be alive. He spent the following 4 days in the ICU, before he got moved to a regular room. Once he was in a normal room it became more apparent that there was more wrong. After many tests my Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer. The following day they performed another life threatening surgery to remove the tumor, and again he pulled through. After spending nearly 2 weeks in the hospital he was discharged. My Dad is currently going to the University of Pennsylvania for all of his cancer treatments.
My Dad has spent his whole life giving back to me, my family, friends and his community. He is in great shape and lives life to the very fullest. He is very intense and extremely passionate about life. In honor of the person that my Dad is I decided to do something for him. There is no one that loves the City of Philadelphia more than my Dad. So, I entered my name into the lottery for the Broad Street Run and got picked, so I’m in!!! I’m going to run this 10 mile race for my Dad.
If you know me at all then you know that my family means the world to me. I want to prove to my Dad that if I can run 10 miles, then I know he has the strength to go through Chemotherapy. I want to raise Money for The American Cancer Society. Whatever money I raise I will make a donation in my Dad’s name to The American Cancer Society. So hopefully they can find a cure someday and other families won't have to go through this!
Thanks for reading my story.
