New Wheelchair For Mom
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
This fundraiser is to help our mom purchase a new wheelchair. Back in 1999 Mom was diagnosed with the aweful neurological disease, Multiple Sclerosis; it took her physical abilities fast, and before we all new her life drastically changed.
You see, the picture shows my mom how we all still to this day remember and see her as. She was a Jr. Olympic Swimmer, she was a pacer for Mark Spitz, she loved her Egyptian Arabians, her ranch, and yes she even loved her kids. All 100 of them lol. When I say 100, I am referring to her active support in not just her local 4-H group but the county and state levels too. She was a parent/guardian at our 4-H camps held every year where she worked with her good mom friends cooking for all of us, and making sure that we had the best adventure. She didn't stop at the 4-H level though, she also grew with us kids when we had to transition into the next phase of FFA.
Within just short of a year of her diagnosis Mom was having to use a wheelchair about 40% of the time, and we sold the ranch so that we could move to a home that was more accepting to the continue progression of the disease. She made it 15 years in her beautiful home, but unfortunately there is no stopping the progression and she is now in a beautiful assisted living community where she has 24/7 staff that can assist in her care. Her wheelchair usage is at its highest 85% and its now time to upgrade her chair, as she needs to be able to use mechanical torso rotation, leg extension, and full body recline. The MS has given her some of the worse scoliosis to where her entire back has relaxed and the spine is permanently now curved. When she can, she stands no higher than 4ft (She is 5'6).
She fights back every day, she is accepting of the progression, but she refuses to let it beat her. She is 100% grateful that it was her with the diagnosis and not one of her children.
We are asking for any amount of contribution to help with the cost. Your gift is so appreciated by all of us.
Thank you all,
God Bless
