Mom's Stroke Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi everyone, as some of you may know, my mother experienced a stroke that was caused by an aneurysm in her brain on June 30th. My family and I are creating this fundraiser to support our efforts, financially, to take care of the woman we all love most.
This happened on the very first night of our family’s annual vacation. My mother complained of a headache and numbness in her legs. The paramedics were called immediately. Soon after my father and sister watched her get picked up by the ambulance, it was determined she had severe bleeding in her brain and needed to be transferred by helicopter to Boston Medical to further analyze her aneurysm. From that night on, she had an external ventricular drain (EVD) inserted into her skull for almost a month. She was in the ICU for 34 days.
A shunt tube has now been surgically placed in the brain to help drain excess cerebrospinal fluid and will be returning to Connecticut to reside at Gaylord Physical Therapy to further her recovery.
Those of you who know Brenda know she is a tough woman but I’m sure you can imagine the damage that has been done to her brain. While being in the NICU, she has had her good days but there are also days where even some of the simplest of tasks are difficult. The great staff at Boston Medical and the love and support of her family has helped her continue to fight and recover from this tragedy.
I hope this fundraiser will help take some of the pressure off my family during this difficult time. Any donation for her medical bills would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
I would also like to say thank you to those that have already helped and continue to be there for my family. We are forever grateful for the love and support as your actions don’t go unnoticed.
Please send your love her way as it will be a long journey as she starts her rehabilitation. We all love you so much, Mom.
