The nightmare is still here and everyday I wake up hoping its still just a dream..
Nov. 4th,
"Dad fell down the stairs", my mom frantic in her raspy, tired voice over the phone at 5AM. I rushed home to take my dad to the hospital as he was in and out of consciousness. He gets diagnosed with GI Bleed & heart disease. 5 blood transfusions, angiogram, suffered multiple heart attacks.
His heart is sick.
In a span of a week my mothers cough got worse causing her to lose her voice completely and she started coughing up blood. I suggested that she goes to the ER..
We were already taking shifts to watch dad so I took her to the ER..worse case scenario she might have pneumonia?
She gets diagnosed with Lung Cancer.
I was in denial, this can't be real.
My heart is hurting and I am scared.
My father was due for a GI clamp and an angioplasty the next day and I didn't have the heart to tell him because I wanted him to have a successful and stress free procedure.
Everyday day for 2 and a half weeks I cried thru the hallways from moms room to dads room and the moment I walked into their rooms I had to be their rock. "We are fight this together", everyday I repeated that to them.
Although I have yet to wake up from my nightmare, I'm blessed to still have my parents here no matter what condition they are in.
Dad had a successful GI Clamp and angioplasty, where they placed two stents in two arteries, and ballooned out the other artery. He is at home resting to get better but the recovery is a long road ahead.
Moms biopsy came back as terminal iv lung cancer. Metastasized to her brain, bones, throat, both lungs. Her pain has progressively moved to other areas in her body. Partly immobile and is expected to get worse over time. There is no cure for her cancer but I still can give her the best life she has left.
With a heavy heart I'm asking for the support of friends and family for my parents medical expenses.
