Momokos' Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

Aloha, my name is David Niihau. I am fundraising on behalf of my beloved wife and mother of our nine year old son. 

My wife was diagnosed with stage four terminal colone cancer almost six years ago. It started with my wife not feeling well and her stomach slowly enlarging. We went to the doctor and the doctor initially diagnosed it as hemroids. My wifes stomach continued to get bigger and we went back to the doctor. The doctor scheduled test to be done. The test date was a week away,but I became extremely concerned because my wifes stomach enlarged to the size of a nine month pregnant woman. I decided to take her to the emergency room that night. This, unknown to us, would be a life changing night. 

As I waited in the emergency room with my son who was four years old at the time, I became more concerned after hours of waiting. The doctor then approached me and asked if we could talk privately. One of the nurses watched my son and I went to speak with the doctor. The doctor informed me that my wife had found numorous cancer tumors in my wifes colon, ovary, uterus, and lymph Node. He informed me that my wife most likely would pass away and I needed to prepare myself and my four year old son for that.

My wife had emergency surgery that took over five hours. This was without doubt the most stressful five hours of my life. 

During the surgery the surgeon removed my wifes ovary, uterus, lymph node and a large portion of her colon. After the surgery I was told by the surgeon and doctor that my wife had ten months left to live.

My wife was released from the hospital ten days later. A week later we went to the doctor for a follow up appointment and to our amazement, no cancer cells were found. It was a great relief to us. She was put on chemotherapy for six months. After six months, she was tested again and we were told that there were no cancer cells. However, six months after that, another test was done and we were told that the cancer had returned and it was terminal. 

Our whole world came crashing down. I did not know what to do. My wife, being the strong woman that she is told me "I am going to live until I die." Since then her health has slowly gotten worse. She is unable to work and I have done my best to pay the bills and make things as comfortable as possible for her. 

Recently, her health is slowly getting worse. She is now having trouble walking due to one of the cancer tumors. I have done all that I can do to pay our bills, but things are getting really hard for us. Because I have to take care of my wife and son so that I am unable to work full time. At this point we have maxed out our credit cards and used all of our savings and have fallen behind on all of our bills.

In our twenty two years of marriage, we have never asked anyone for help. At this point I have no choice, but to swallow my pride and ask for all of your help. 

My wife has done everything possible to try and fight the cancer,but the reality is that the cancer is growing and spreading out to her lung and stomach. Time is a luxury that we no longer have. I want for her to be comfortable and be able to spend what time she has left with myself and my son without having to worry about the bills that have piled up. Also her car has recently broke down and needs a new transmission. The cost of that is very high,but we need the car to be fixed. She is also wants to take our nine year old son to her hometown in Japan to see her family before she passes away.

My wife is the most loving and caring person that I have ever met in my life. She is an amazing wife and mother. I could not ask for a better mother to my son.
