Momma Kandy Needs Our Prayers and Support

My name is Kyla, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my mom, Kandy. We find ourselves in a position we never imagined we'd be in, but we're reaching out for help. Your support, whether through sharing our story, keeping us in your thoughts and prayers, or contributing what you can, means the world to us.

My mom has always been the pillar of strength in our family, but lately, her health has taken a sharp decline. It started with what seemed like minor discomforts, but over time, it has evolved into something much more serious. She's battling severe acid reflux, crippling nausea, and excruciating stomach pain that's only worsened by lying down. It's become so unbearable that she's lost an alarming amount of weight and struggles to find any sort of relief. The severity of these symptoms tend to flare up even more at night and have made it impossible for her to sleep for uncountable months, but beyond that they have made it hard for her to even eat. As a family, we're devastated to witness her transformation from a vibrant, hardworking woman to someone who's frail and in constant pain. If you know her or us, then you also know that for us to set this up and ask for help, it is desperate, because we do not ask for help ever, but we are out of options.

As a mom myself, I am in the difficult position of starting a second job to help her as much as I am able to myself, but with her inability to work recently, her bills are piling up, including over twenty-thousand dollars in medical bills from just over the past couple of months. We are unable to keep up.

My mom has been a self-employed cleaner for twenty years this month, so she does not have health insurance. Although recently in desperation, she applied for medicaid, but was denied for barely being over the income limit.

Among several different Doctors' Offices and trying different providers in an attempt to find an answer, she was referred to Billings Clinic in hopes for the best possible diagnosis and treatment locally, but instead has been met with dozens and dozens of expensive tests, medications that don't work and quite frankly make her symptoms worse; she has had two Endoscopies, a Colonoscopy, and CT scans. She has also had dozens of appointments and follow-ups. After one of the Endoscopies, Billings Clinic told us the next test would be an Endoscopic Ultrasound, but without insurance she would likely not be able to afford it and basically sent us packing with no other options. We still have ZERO answers.

On Easter Day, after the worst week so far, we ended up at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital Emergency Room again, because she hadn't been able to eat and could hardly drink even water with the symptoms becoming so completely unbearable, in addition, she hadn't slept more than a few minutes at a time for weeks. BUT THIS TIME, THEY FOUND SOMETHING!

We don't know what exactly it is yet or if it is the cause (sounds like it is highly likely, as it has to do with her stomach) and thankfully we got into a GI doctor through BDH today (Tuesday 4/2). We will see what they say. The doctor decided we need to get her the endoscopic ultrasound, regardless of financial status, praise God!

The Ultimate goal is to get her back to her feeling better again. If we continue not getting any answers after this most recent discovery and through the follow up of these next tests in the upcoming weeks, (there is only one Doc in the state of MT that does the Endoscopic Ultrasounds, so it will be 2-3 weeks before she will be able to have that procedure), we are going to do everything possible to get her to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, even if that means we have to walk into their Emergency Room. The idea of this frightens our mom even more with the struggles of traveling with her symptoms and financial situation, but we are trying to be optimistic that this next series of events will hold the answer. In any case, she is still in need of lots of help at the moment.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this and please, please share. Please, if you can, help our mom have peace of mind that she will be taken care of while she is at her lowest so she can regain her strength by regaining her health. She has grandkids that LOVE HER SO MUCH and they miss their Grandma and she is so devastated she can't play with them like she is used to.

We are asking for the minimum amount of $30,000 to help bring her medical bills current, help cover these next few tests, and give her a tiny bit of relief on her bills. If there is any additional funds raised, they will be used to cover the deposit to the Mayo Clinic and additional medical costs that must be paid up front due to her being self-pay.

If you would rather donate directly and not through this platform, we have a Venmo that is connected directly to a specific bank account for just her medical expenses. You can also donate directly to the bank as well.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering our plea. Please share our story far and wide, and if you're able, contribute what you can. Together, we can help my mom regain her health and reclaim her strength.
