Empower Momin's Educational Journey

Donation protected
Update (May 26, 2025)
Momin has applied to Griffith College, Ireland's premier independent college. He has been accepted and orientation begins September 25, 2025. We are making another push to try and secure the funding required in order for him to attend.

Update (March 16, 2025)
After an acceptance to WMU, Momin's next steps were to schedule and attend a visa appointment with the United States Embassy. The visa was denied. The reasoning that they gave was that he didn't seem to have enough of a connection to his place of residence and might potentially try to stay in the United States. This was pretty devastating, as we all know what happened to Momin's home (it was totally destroyed). Momin has since pivoted strategies; he applied and was accepted to The Atlantic Technical Institute in Ireland, where he will earn his B.S. in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity. Momin needs to submit a deposit by April 12. We are hoping and praying for any donations to help him secure his spot. Please, share with your networks - let's help this young man in continuing his education.

*UPDATE 3* Momin has officially been admitted to WMU! Now we work on creating a Scholarship Universe account so he can apply for scholarships at Western!

*UPDATE 2* Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids has pledged $500 to Momin.

*UPDATE* Momin has been provisionally admitted to WMU! All he needs is proof of funds/sponsor and then we can move to next steps.

My name is Melissa Beck, and I am from Kalamazoo, Michigan. I have started this GoFundMe page on behalf of my remarkable friend, Momin (19), a resilient young man from Gaza who now finds himself displaced and residing on his own in Maadi, Cairo.

Facing adversity with unwavering determination, Momin dreams of pursuing a degree in cybersecurity at university (and currently has an application in at WMU). His family is displaced, with most still residing in Gaza, thankfully as of Oct. 14, his sister is now safely in Ireland. Momin has remained steadfast in his commitment to achieving his educational goals.

Momin has shared pictures and videos with me of the time before his life was upended by war. He enjoyed a beautiful life with his friends and family; he rode horses on the beach, played soccer on Gaza's most renowned league. He and his friends and family loved singing and dancing, and sharing moments of camaraderie playing PlayStation. On Fridays, Momin would spend time at his friend's café, a cherished haven that is now lost due to the destruction.

His warm, caring nature and genuine friendship have deeply touched my life, and I invite you to join me in supporting Momin as he rebuilds his life and strives to achieve his goals.

Momin plans to use the funds for University fees-he should be in his second year, and worries that he hasn't joined one yet. I will transfer all funds on his behalf to Western Michigan University at the completion of his fundraiser.

Total (one academic year): $32,644

Please see the example below for the need of proof of sufficient funds:
For immigration purposes, international students must provide proof of sufficient funds for the first academic year of study at WMU according to the following estimated costs of attendance which includes estimates on tuition, fees and living expenses for the fall and spring semesters.

Your contributions will not only provide financial assistance and security but also serve as a testament to the power of friendship and global community support during these challenging times.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
