Mom's Music - on Stage At Last!

"Georgia Dill, an American
housewife and mother, born in the roaring twenties and married at the finale of World War II, had an unsung secret. Despite her devotion to her children and duty to run a traditional household (ours), she longed to be Steven Sondheim, or Richard Rogers - and this desire manifested in the form of three, original, complete musicals - never produced.
In 2005, when Mom died, my brother, Christopher, cleared out her home in Asheville, NC,
and brought me four good-sized boxes filled with those musicals. And there they sat...until, one night, at our wine/jazz bar, I sang the first song she wrote for the first musical.
After singing it just once, I asked the crowd to sing it with me, and they did...perfectly. Score! It was as if she said, “There! They’re ready for me now!” Right then, I decided to produce those musicals, not only as a tribute to my mother but because they belong on the stage, not in boxes.
To begin the process of producing those musicals, Dallas' Echo Theatre will present a Showcase, for one night only, of "The World and Music of Georgia Dill," at the Bathhouse, Tuesday, December 18, at 7:00.
To produce this, the Project cost is $4500.00. $1700.00 raised, so far. Looking to raise $2800.00 to meet our production goal. I think many, many people will enjoy and savor the timeless nature of my mother's music, songs with humor and humanity, in the style of the American Standard Songbook and meant to be shared and accessible to all. I will be eternally grateful for your help!
