It has now been a year since the death of our Mom and Grandmother, Mary Ellen McGuigan Ramos, just 23 months after we lost Dad/Grandpa Bob Ramos. Things have been in a relentless downward spiral for our remaining family ever since.  We are now facing a difficult situation relating to her final arrangements and what remains of their cherished mementos and personal property.

Due to the snowball effect of numerous family illnesses, son Mike's extended disability from an injury at work, the abandonment of their beloved grandchildren by their father, and the additional financial stresses brought on by COVID-19, the family has been financially unable to pay the final balance due to the funeral home for her cremation, and therefore have not been permitted to claim her cremated remains.

In addition, we have been unable to maintain the monthly storage fees to hold her personal property and furnishings, and the storage facility will soon sell all their belongings in order to satisfy the balance. This includes family photos, mementos, furniture, and their cherished items saved from over 58 years together.

We need to pay the bill, rent a large enough truck, and supply it with gas for the long round-trip between Absecon, NJ, where the storage units are located, and Scranton, PA, where Mom moved a little over a month before she died, in a local nursing facility after a yearlong illness.

We know this is a terribly difficult time for most people, and finances are strained for families in ways never experienced before due to the pandemic. The holiday season only makes it more financially precarious all around.  However, we are reaching out in the hope that there might be help out there for us. Mom and Dad devoted their lives to their kids and grandchildren, and it has been painful for us NOT to be able to take care of this final piece of their legacy, and bring my Mom's cremated remains.

Can you help with a donation? Any amount helps. Time is of the essence, but we are trying to make this happen and beat a very limited time frame in which to get this accomplished and empty the storage units before it is too late, and the contents are sold at auction out from under us.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
