For those of you who have been a part of our mom’s journey to wellness throughout the years, my sister and I thank you for what you have done, whether your support came in the form of prayer, financial, or simply sharing stories like these. It was your journey as well.
It is with an immensely heavy and painful heart that I inform you that my mom, Lu Simpson’s long battle with cancer has come to an end. Mom was called to glory on the morning of Saturday, September 12 at 4:05 am at Novant Health Medical Center Mint Hill, NC. For four years, she fought a hard fight against breast and lung cancer. The great pain she suffered, she described as something that was totally unique, incomparable, and unlike anything she has felt. Unfortunately, we know this not only because we witnessed it, but she also wrote notes and kept records about her trials. Most of which reduced us to tears as we thought about the many times we longed to have the ability to take her pain away. Still so, she was not alone. You all joined her in battle with us, with what you could with your support in whichever way it came, and I assure you she went to sleep knowing that her children loved her, you all had her back, and the medical professionals did what they could. Tyla and I will sorely miss mom, but we are glad that she’s no longer in pain.
Subsequently, this will be our final fundraising campaign for her to help offset some of the costs for her memorial arrangements. I truly still can’t believe I’ve written this, or that “this” is happening at all. However, though gone in an earthly sense, mom will live on in us. Thank you again, for whatever support you can provide, even if it’s a prayer, well-wish, share, or reading this bio to understand her fight and how much she was loved. Many will say “I’m sorry for your loss”, and though a great loss it is, it is not solely our own, but it is yours as well. Thank you for your support, and we too are saddened by your loss.
