Mom (Twyla (Hyatt) Gawlas) AML Leukemia

Donation protected

My mom was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. My mom is going to be out of work. My dad (Bob) wants to be with her and only works part time, financially this is going to be difficult for them.  We do know that their insurance coverage will require them to pay $2,800. The hospital where she is staying at the moment is a 30 minute drive for my dad and about 20 minutes from my home.  We really do appreciate any financial help we can get. Thank you so much for your generosity. We are overwhelmed with gratitude.

PLEASE, if anything, keep our family in your prayers. This has been a hard time for literally everyone on Earth.  We are actually lucky in a way COVID was a concern because it brought my mom into the hospital. Praise the LORD that he has this in His hands and my mom is going to have support and love and hopefully the best doctors that Jacksonville has. Thank you all for your support.

-PAST INFORMATION-

Friday (2/26) The CT Scan showed a cyst/ mass on her colon. They can’t do a needle biopsy. They said if it wasn’t for her low platelets she’d already be in surgery. They are currently moving forward with the endoscopy because it will be a few days for bone marrow results.

Thursday (2/25) The doctor is trying to rule out leukemia. They gave her IV Fentanyl and did a bone marrow biopsy. Afterwards they gave her Vancomycin and had an allergic reaction. If the result are abnormal she’ll have to transfer hospitals for treatment. If the results come back clear they’re gonna do a colonoscopy and an endoscopy.

Wednesday (2/24)

Originally my mom went in to get a second COVID test done because she had all the symptoms but came back negative. The were concerned with her shortness of breath and high heart rate.

They started with blood work and X-rays. They tried to do a CT scan but she panicked and they had to sedate her. The doctor is very concerned about her heart and is trying to rule out pulmonary embolism. She got admitted to stay at least for the night.

They just took her back to try to do a CT scan again. They said they need to do a blood transfusion which she’s had an allergic reaction to before, but went as planned this time.
