Mom seeks help for young daughter

A single mother in Maryland is currently fighting to save her preschool-aged daughter from a horrific situation. This young child was recently in her father’s care for 4 days. Upon being returned to her mother, the child complained of pain in her private area and named her father as the person who hurt her. This is the second incident regarding the father abusing the child in recent months (the first incident is still being investigated). The child was immediately taken to the hospital for a forensic examination (R*** kit). The forensic nurse’s report concluded that “S.A. is highly suspected”. The forensic nurse reported the abuse to Child Protective Services and they have already recommended the father only have supervised visitation with the child after the first incident was reported. Now that this child has been abused and traumatized again, it is asinine to require her to be in her father’s presence- supervised or not. An expedited family court hearing has been requested.

While CPS is processing the investigations, the mother is in dire need of an attorney to advocate for her and her young daughter as she has a family court hearing at the end of this month. The mother found an attorney who specializes in child welfare cases and he is willing to take on this case. He has a $7,000 retainer and the mother has already paid $5,000. We are humbly asking for donations to help this family raise the additional $2,000. The deadline is January 23rd. This mother is a hard worker and just wants the systems that were put in place to protect children, to do exactly that. Children are the most vulnerable members of our society and should be protected at all costs.
