Rebuilding My Life After Child Loss | Podcast, Books & Live Like Kingston Foundation
I’m not building this from a place of stability.
I’m building it while my life is still very much in progress.
My name is Maile. I’m a writer, podcast host, mom, and nonprofit founder rebuilding my life after losing my son to pediatric cancer. What I’m doing now isn’t moving on. It’s figuring out how to keep going and build something meaningful out of what’s left.
Right now, I’m creating a podcast called Honestly I’m Fine a 365-day series documenting what it actually looks like to rebuild your life in real time, and multiple writing projects including my memoir, children’s books, and grief resources for parents.
At the same time, I’m building the Live Like Kingston Foundation to support families facing pediatric cancer and child loss with both practical help and emotional support that actually makes a difference.
This work already exists. I’m showing up and doing it. The part I need help with is sustaining and growing it.
Why $22,000
This goal is not about covering one expense. It’s about creating the structure to keep building consistently.
This funding allows me to:
• Consistently produce and grow my podcast for the next year, including studio time, equipment, and editing
• Write, edit, and publish multiple books, including my memoir, children’s books, and grief resources
• Launch and begin building the Live Like Kingston Foundation, including filing, setup, and initial outreach
• Host a fundraiser this July to officially launch and support the Live Like Kingston Foundation
• Create grief support groups, digital resources, and in-person community events
• Invest in the tools, equipment, and promotion needed to actually reach people who need this work
• Maintain enough stability to keep creating consistently instead of constantly starting over
This isn’t about funding an idea.
It’s about supporting something that is already in motion and giving it the ability to grow.
