I’ve created this go fund me on behalf of Karen Cooke who lost her home and all possessions because of Hurricane Melissa.
Karen lives in rural St James,Jamaica with her 4 kids (ages 3, 9, 13, 15). Their house collapsed and everything was destroyed.
They have since been scattered and forced to live with various family and friends (basically anyone who has room).
Government aid to the rural people in the community of Maroon town in St James has been mostly non existent. The area was always hard to reach, but since the hurricane half the road has broken away. The hurricane also downed a light pole unto the road, which prevents high body trucks from passing on the road.
Our goal is to get enough to build her a small wooden studio, so the family can reunite.
Materials (ply, lumber, zinc, cement) are expensive and renting a vehicle to get the materials to her building site has been a challenge.
We have people who are willing to volunteer labor, but just need help getting enough funds to buy and transport the materials.
Thanks,
Kay
