Mom of 3 needs help after husband is in accident
Donation protected
On April 24th, a terrible accident took place on Highway 35 when Rui Dias was driving home to Lindsay from Oshawa on his motorcycle after visiting his parents. His wife Charity and their three daughters were driving ahead of him in their car when they learned that a pick-up truck had done a U-turn on the highway and struck Rui head on. Charity turned around, and when they arrived on the scene the ambulance had already arrived and Rui was in serious condition. The young girls were hysterical as paramedics tried to calm them down.
Rui was left with three fractured ribs, two broken hands, a torn Achilles tendon, and had suffered severe brain trauma. It's now been nearly a month, and he still cannot remember much from the past four years, including the names of people or the ages of his children. He also has developed a stutter due to the accident and has light sensitivity, so he sits in a dark room all day and if he does leave the room, he needs sunglasses and a hat on at all times. He still can't stand or walk since the pain is so excruciating it makes him pass out.
Rui was the family's breadwinner and had a construction business where he worked long hours. His wife Charity is a stay-at-home mom for the most part and only has occasional shift work, so she has no idea how she will pay the bills, let alone how she will work if she has to care for him and get him to neurologist appointments when he's discharged from the hospital.
I am asking our community to please help an incredible mother in this time of need. This fundraiser will help Charity cover her costs for nearly three months to focus on her children and find specialized help for Rui.
