Mom Needs Help Paying Stage 4 Cancer Bills

Our mother, Teresa, has been nothing but kind, compassionate, and loving in her 62 years on this earth. She has four daughters and 10 grandchildren, some of whom have special needs, and she has always gone above and beyond to care for them. Well, now it is our turn to take care of her, and we are struggling, as we are spread out across the country.

Mom was originally diagnosed with cervical cancer in August of 2016. She underwent surgery to remove her tumors, and then endured radiation. Then in 2017, it came back. This time, she had another major 7.5-hour surgery, which caused her to lose her bladder and other organs. After an 11-day hospital stay and 8-week recovery, she had to again endure targeted radiation, as well as multiple rounds of chemotherapy. We watched in disbelief as our once vibrant and energetic mother deteriorated into a shell of her former self, yet she still pressed on, having no option but to work during all of this.

Now her cancer has returned for a third time, and her most recent surgery has taken her colon. She is officially in stage 4 cancer, and though she is going through immunotherapy, the outcome of that has yet to be seen, and the doctors have told us she has less than a year to live.

In the meantime, the bills are mounting, and this most recent prognosis has forced her into retirement. She can no longer work, she has lost her health insurance, and her savings have already been depleted from covering her medical expenses, which seem to be never-ending. We are in no position to be able to help her with these costs. It is all we can do to take turns traveling to help her with chores and brighten her days. She won't ask for the help she needs, but we are hoping the kindness of strangers will allow us to help alleviate her burdens in ways we otherwise wouldn't be able to.

Knowing these expenses are being alleviated, even by just a little, will relieve a huge burden upon our shoulders, and allow us to focus on giving Mom the happiness she has spent her life providing to others.
