Our dear friend Judi Cabrera, or as many Omicron Kappa Alpha Theta's fondly know her – "Mom Judi," thankfully evacuated her home in Fort Meyers before Hurricane Ian hit. She surely had the energy of hundreds and we used to think it could only take a natural disaster to slow her down, but that is what has happened!
Hurricane Ian left her condo where she's newly made her home in Fort Meyers unliveable – the roof partially blown off, ceilings caved in, asbestos poured out over her furniture, floors ruined with flooding, and air condition units strewn around the grounds.
We are so thankful Judi is safe and with her family in Minnesota. The repairs and asbestos treatment will take 7-10 months (at the least and possibly longer with supply chain issues). All funds will go directly to Mom Judi and will be used for her insurance deductibles, extensive repairs, travel expenses, and lodging costs she'll accumulate over the next year of traveling to and from construction.
*If any funds are not used at the end of repairs, remaining donations will spill over to the Theta Friendship Fund to help other Theta’s facing an unexpected hurdle.
Judi is not one who asks for herself. She has a faith-based stamina that has helped her through some very serious health challenges in the last year. However, we have never heard her so despondent and without hope as just after this storm. The emotional shock for all in the area is just enormous and will be years in recovery. Please help us to give Judi some strong financial support to get this through this challenging time and keep her spirits and health up.
