Mom injured in bicycle accident

Donation protected
My mom was going on her usual morning bicycle ride yesterday (9/20) when she lost control of her bike going down a hill and crashed. Someone found her about 15 minutes later and called an ambulance. She was taken into the emergency room and had tons of tests and scans done to see what was wrong. She had some pretty bad damage to her spine and face but otherwise she was in pretty good shape. They stitched her face up and had set up back surgery to be done the next day. When they opened her up there was already a lot of blood in her spinal cavity, they continued on with the surgery and it was going well for awhile there until they went to put the last screw in and it hit her spinal cord, they took it out and replaced it with a smaller screw. They are going to do more scans to see what went wrong and hope that she will still have function of her legs. This has all been so horrifying but to top it off her husband (Ernie) just started a new job not too long ago, so she does not have any health insurance at the moment. The bills are already piling up and we don’t know how much more she will need done or how long she’ll be in the hospital. This was a freak accident that no one was prepared for. My mom is such an amazing woman, who raised three kids on her own while working multiple jobs most of her life to make sure we had what we needed. She is my super hero and best friend. Her bad luck never seems to end. All she has ever wanted in life is to run her own daycare and the obstacles have been endless to get there. This one just put a huge bump in the road...she went under stressing so much about money which she shouldn’t have to be thinking about right now. I just want to help lift some of the burden off of her and my family in this hard time. Anything you can donate will help or even just helping get the word out. My mom has always been there for everyone else and it’s time we are there for her. I will keep this page up to date as we find out more. Thank you.
