Mom & Daughter's Tiny Home Startup
Donation protected
Hi everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read about our campaign! To all of those who know us, the ambitious mother/daughter duo, know that our entire family has been raised by people who value hard work and take pride in working for themselves. Coming from a long line of entrepreneurs, we are so excited to announce that it's time to start our own new venture, building tiny homes.
A little history...
As a child, Santara was always creating art, every kind, all mediums. By the time she was about 7 or 8, she was designing rooms, sewing curtains, making pillows, and building four-poster beds out of PVC pipe. Finally she went to college and discovered that interior design was her calling. She graduated last year with a degree in interior design, having a huge focus on designing with aging-in-place in mind, sustainability, and excelling in space planning. During her time in college, she interned for a variety of design-related businesses, including an upscale textile showroom, design trade shows, as well as working for a well known commercial interior design firm in Portland, helping on large-scale projects including hotels, restaurants and other commercial businesses.
While she was half way through school, her mother Linda decided it was her time to go to college as well, and learn how to build tiny homes. It was with that decision, that we knew that we wanted to start a tiny house business together, once she also graduated. Through her time pursuing her passion in school, Linda has inspired the college to start a tiny house building course, as well as teaching her own course for women in construction. While interning for a non profit organization, building tiny homes for the homeless,
she assisted in building tiny homes from the ground up.
Now that Linda is about to graduate this June with her degree in construction technology, the time has finally arrived and we couldn't be anymore excited to put our combined skills in action, and start this new journey together! With the funds raised from this gofundme account, it is our intention to build our first tiny house prototype this summer, from start to finish. In order to approach lending institutions to secure a small business loan, so that we can officially start our business, we will use this first prototype to demonstrate the quality of the design and construction that we intend to use on all future models.
We know that this has been a little lengthy, but we really wanted to let you all know why this is so important to us, and what an amazing mother/daughter business you would be supporting. Just as we here asking for help, we know that most of us don't have a lot of extra finances laying around to donate. With that said, we also want to let you know, that although our goal is a large amount, any contribution, large or small, is incredibly helpful and much appreciated! If you'd like to know any other details about our new business venture, we'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Please feel free to contact us!
