Hi folks, my name is Liz and I am raising money for my mom, Veronica, and my little sister, Rebeca, to help them from being evicted and keep their housing. My mom has recently been served an eviction notice and has until the end of the month to pay her rent, along with late fees.
My mom works in Meridian, Idaho where she prepares and serves meals as a school cafeteria worker. She has had to take sick leave due to contracting COVID-19. In order to recover, she had to take an additional week off with no pay.
In addition to this, my mom has been battling an undiagnosed lung condition for years. She has been trying to alleviate her illness with the use of supplements and homeopathic remedies because she previously could not afford medical insurance. Even now that she finally has coverage, the pandemic has delayed crucial and necessary tests.
My little sister, Rebeca, is a 17-year-old student who is currently working on obtaining her GED. She recently took up a part-time job to help our mom financially. With only one family vehicle, my sister has to walk to work. During the winter months of Idaho, it's a very cold and uncomfortable walk.
Due to my mother's leave of absence brought about by COVID-19, she has fallen behind on her rent and bills, including Internet, which means that my little sister's education has had to be put on hold. Additionaly, my mom cannot afford to purchase the necessary supplements for her ailment.

My mom has always been resourceful and innovative in how she took care of my siblings and me. She would surprise us with goodies that she picked up from the local food pantry. She'd take us on long country car rides, and made sightseeing and exploring an adventure. We never knew the struggles she was enduring as a single-mother because she always tried to make the most with what she could provide, and every intention was always with pure love.
My mom continues to show love to those around her and provides a sense of community with what means she has. She's a caring lunch lady, the one the kids invite to their basketball games and graduation ceremony. She's the person you can call in the middle of the night when your car breaks down. She grows vegetables in her summer garden and shares them with her neighbors. Hers is the home the kids play in front of, and she'll come out with homemade lemonade and fresh cucumber slices. My mom has a very giving spirit, even though she does not have much for herself. She gives from her heart.

Right now, my mom and litter sister's future is uncertain. Every day they question how they are going to make it and wonder if they'll still have a place to live at the end of the month. It breaks my heart to see my mom and little sister in this difficult situation. I wish I had the means to help them all on my own and take away their troubles, but I don't. This is why I am starting this fundraiser. Hoping that their situation, their story, touches the hearts of even just a few.
Please help me give my mom and my little sister some hope, and much needed assistance.
If you feel inclined to help my family, know that my gratitude for your support and heartfelt compassion is immeasurable, and I absolutely thank you from the very depths of my heart. All funds raised will go towards rent, utilities, groceries, past due bills, medical expenses, and Internet. It is in community that we find strength, healing, and humanity.
