Mom and her son in ICU for COVID expenses
Donation protected
My name is Claudia, I reach out to you all under these unfortunate circumstances. COVID-19 has ravaged my family, infecting all 6 of us, but wreaking the worst havoc on my mother, Alma Navarro, 58yrs old, and my little brother, Ramon Aguilera Jr., 24yrs old. They both had pre-existing conditions that masked the red flag symptoms of COVID until it was Almost too late.
*December 10th, my mom was whisked away by the ambulance and later that night transferred to the ICU.
*December 12th, I took my brother to a freestanding ER for assessment and they realized his oxygen saturation was in the 50's! They immediately transferred him to a different hospital and later that night was also admitted into the ICU.
*December 13th, I got calls from their doctors hours apart from each other that they were going to have to be intubate them and place them on ventilators.
I cannot describe the utter fear that gripped me and the rest of my family that night. We cried until we could not anymore, we prayed so hard on our knees that this wasn't yet another tragedy being bestowed upon our family. You see, just a month earlier on *November 7th we lost my grandmother (my mom's mother) to COVID-19 as well. She contracted the virus TWICE while in her nursing home and the second time developed pneumonia which proved to be too much for her frail body. She passed away without us being able to say goodbye or hold her hand. It was devastating to say the least.
Both my mother and brother have developed COVID Pneumonia, my mother developed more complications, a pulmonary embolism, keto-acidosis and had to undergo a minor dental surgery right after her intubation. She will require dental repair once she is better, god willing. My brother already suffered from chronic asthma and sleep apnea prior and he developed the pneumonia in both lungs. They have been on ventilators up until today and they are making positive progress, so we are hopeful for their eventual recovery.
I am asking for your compassion and charity to assist us in helping to pay for their medical bills and aftercare. There's a chance they may require oxygen or therapy afterwards, but that is yet to be determined. From my research, I saw the estimated cost of ICU care is 10k a day, so my goal for now is relatively low, but I really am just grateful for ANYTHING you can contribute. Even if you share this with others, perhaps get more attention to our plight, it may reach someone else who can help.
Thank you everyone for reading our story and for your compassionate consideration. We accept prayers for their speedy recovery as well.
