Update:
I never imagined I’d be in a position where I needed to ask for help like this...again, but right now, we’re facing a situation we can’t manage on our own.
My partner is currently on leave, which means we’re living on a reduced income, and it’s been a challenge just keeping up with basic needs, so far since we've been home from the hospital we've been able to manage, mostly.
Lily has had frequent follow up appointments at McMaster to keep an eye on her blood clot and she was diagnosed with a "subdural collection", which the doctors can't tell if it's blood or spinal fluid. So, theu have been watching that as well. She now has an MRI to check on both issues coming and and she has to be put under for it, so she has Pre-OP appointments as well in Hamilton. These appointments are critical, and missing them is not an option.
Unfortunately, our only vehicle now needs an urgent muffler repair before we can safely make that next trip. We’ve been quoted $500 for the repair, and without it, we risk not being able to get her to the care she needs.
On top of that, we’re currently struggling to afford groceries, and we also need to cover the cost of gas and parking for the trip.
We’ve moved our goal up $773, which will cover:
- $500 for the car repair
- $200 for groceries for our family this week
- $50 for gas to get to the appointment
- $23 for parking
Every dollar raised will go directly toward getting our car safely back on the road, putting food on the table, and making sure Lily can attend her medical testing.
If you’re able to donate, share, or support us in any way, we are incredibly grateful. Even small contributions truly make a difference for our family right now.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for helping us get through this.
With gratitude,
Ember, Matt & Lily
Original:
On Thursday, December 18th, I went into preterm labour and needed an emergency C Section.
Lily was born at 6:30 that evening weighing 4lb 4oz at 33 + 5 weeks gestation.
She will need to be in the NICU until at least the 2nd week of February and since I had a rough pregnancy (weekly appointments at McMaster) we are quickly running out of funds to stay near the hospital with her.
Parking, food, gas, and essentials are adding up, as well as keeping our house and bills paid for. Matt has been off since the first week of November and until we get approved for Parental leave we have no income.
It's hard asking for help, but given the situation, if you can help, even a little bit, we would be most grateful!
We're hoping to use the funds for gas, food, and parking as well as formula and diapers for when she comes home.
If you are someone we know and would like to send us a gift card instead, gas cards, mcdonalds/tims cards and walmart cards are appreciated!
