Molly's Cancer Fighting Fund!
Donation protected
The family and friends of Molly have started this fundraising campaign to help financially support her during her battle with cancer. Molly and her husband Michael live in the suburbs of Chicago with their two dogs, Derby & Sadie. She enjoys her work as a nanny while also going back to school to earn her degree in elementary education. She loves spending her free time with her five wonderful nieces and nephews, selling handmade crafts with her husband and hiking with their dogs.
Recently, Molly noticed a small ulcer on her tongue and began experiencing several confusing symptoms, including a swollen tongue, numbness and pain in the face and throat. After consulting several dentists and doctors she believed the symptoms were a result of dental complications and/or an infection. Treatments and medication proved unsuccessful. The spot became a mass and she felt compelled to get an oral cancer screening and subsequent biopsy revealing the mass to be cancer of the tongue and throat which had spread to the nerves. With the help of family she was able to find a wonderful cancer center and doctor who will guide her through this fight. The road to recovery will include major in-patient surgery to remove the cancer from her tongue and throat, speech therapy and radiation therapy.
While Molly and Michael have an amazing support system of loving friends and family, a strong faith and a will to learn all they can to beat this disease, there will be a large amount of related costs. Luckily, they were able to qualify for an extended enrollment period to get insurance and cover a large portion of the direct treatment. However, the high premiums, out-of-pocket costs, deductibles, co-pays and prescriptions along with missed time at work and related travel expenses lead to an initial estimated cost approaching $10,000.
Any financial support we can give them as family and friends will be very much appreciated. The goodwill, caring thoughts and prayers of each of you give Molly and Michael the strength and hope they need to make it through this trying stage of life. We thank you all for your love and support.
