UPDATE AS OF 10/1: Hi all! As many close to me know, a bout of COVID-19 in early August forced me to reschedule my surgery to October 23. I am happy to report that I am now employed, however, I likely will not be paid for the month of leave I will have to take after my surgery!
I am so, SO grateful for all the people that donated in the first few weeks of this fundraiser. The money raised has been in my savings account so that I can use it during late October-early November, when I'm not working. To be honest, what I've made so far should cover most things for that month. But if anyone is feeling generous, reaching the original goal of $1000 would ensure that I am in good shape until I am back at work!
Thank you all so much <3

(Original Post)
Hi all! My name is Molly Violet, and I'm a 29-year-old trans woman living in Western New York. I've created this fund because I am in a liminal period right now; I decided to leave my job as a public educator at the end of June. However, I am scheduled for gender-affirming surgery on August 13, which will leave me unable to work for 4 to 6 weeks.
At present, I am doing food delivery to save money while living off my remaining pay from teaching, but this awkward timing puts me in a position where I can't apply for anything more consistent until after the procedure. By the time I am in recovery, my remaining savings will be running quite thin, with no work guaranteed after I am fully recovered. As a result, I have decided to turn to the community for help.
My goal is to raise enough money to live off of for the 4-6 week recovery period from my surgery, but truly, anything helps! Finding employment as a trans person can be excruciatingly difficult, and having a safety net, no matter the size, will prove invaluable while I search for jobs post-surgery. Thank you for your time in reading this, and I hope you'll consider sharing this and/or throwing me a few bucks!
-Molly :)
