Molly’s fundraiser for Women’s Aid
I’ll be jumping out of a plane next month to raise money for Women’s Aid - one of several charities that have become deeply personal to me.
Not too long ago, I wasn’t in a particularly good place, and I experienced domestic abuse - something that impacted not only me but also my three children. During that same time, I watched my dad pass away. Our relationship had been shaped by his alcoholism, and the last chance to find peace or closure with him was taken from me. Four weeks later, I gave birth to my incredible little boy - while still in the thick of the abuse. I remember the nurses coming to my bedside again and again, gently asking if I was going back to a ‘safe’ home, if someone would be there to look after me following the surgery. I had phone calls from other authorities at the same time, following up with welfare checks to ask the same questions. They all knew. And deep down, so did I. It was, without a doubt, one of the darkest, most soul-destroying, and overwhelming times of our lives.
I’m not sharing this for sympathy. I’m sharing it to raise awareness - to turn that pain into purpose. To show that there is no shame in surviving abuse, because the shame lies with the perpetrator. Whether that means raising funds for a cause that helps others in crisis or simply letting someone out there know they’re not alone. If this resonates with you and you’re not in a position to donate, that’s absolutely fine - if you ever need someone to talk to, my inbox is open.
It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for the support I received from charities like Women’s Aid - and now, I’d love to give back.
This skydive is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a symbol of freedom, strength, and a fresh start - not just for me, but for the countless women and children who need support, safety, and hope.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps Women’s Aid continue their life-saving work.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading this far. Sharing this didn’t feel particularly great, but knowing it could help others gave me the courage to get a bit of a grip - so here we are.
