Job & Molly's New Forever Home
Donation protected
Many of you know Job and Molly well, but here is a quick backstory for those that don't. Job Wiegert (soon to be 13 years old) is Molly McConville's oldest grandson. She adopted him as an infant after a tragic incident resulted in him having cerebral palsy / spastic quadriplegia. She did not hestitate to quit her job to become his full-time caregiver, and has been a strong advocate for Job ever since, getting him a scholarship to The Bridge School for children with special adaptive communication needs. He has since graduated and is now thriving as a seventh grader at Hoover Middle School in San Jose.
Job and Molly have a limited income and have been living in a subsidized low rent apartment in Los Gatos for over a decade. (Molly receives a modest income from the state to care for Job, and would not be able to work full-time while also caring for him and arranging all of his special services and appointments.) The apartment was suitable for Job as a young child, but for the past several years Molly has been investigating longer term housing options to best support Job as he grows and his abilities / equipment needs change.
A below market price (BMP) housing opportunity recently became available in Los Gatos with ample space for Job to maneuver in his new power wheelchair, and storage space for his equipment and devices. There is also a small yard where Job could have friends and family over (the current apartment is not suitable for hosting gatherings). Molly applied for the Hello Housing program to be eligible to purchase the house. Below market houses are in huge demand in Santa Clara county, so all applicants must go through a stringent review process. Molly had looked into other BMP homes in the past; however, she felt a strong connection to this house because it was in Los Gatos (near her family) and was also single-story, which is a rare find given the limited BMP housing in this area. She told close friends and family about the opportunity, and everyone prayed for God's will and favor regarding the house and Molly and Job's future.
Molly did not want to get Job's hopes up, but she showed him a flyer about the home and told him that she was going to apply for it and pray about it. She posted the flyer on a wall in Job's bathroom, and he has admired it every day since, showing excitement whenever someone would mention the house.
Molly was amazed to learn this week that out of all the applicants, she has been conditionally approved to buy this remarkable home!
Because of her limited fixed income, Molly does not have enough funds for the down payment for this house; however, she would be able to make the monthly mortgage payments. Throughout this process she has had faith that if she applied and was selected, that the down payment would come together somehow.
Molly's friends and family are collaborating to raise $50,000 to cover the cost of the down payment and moving expenses, allowing Molly and Job to progress onward and live happily in their new forever home! The timeline is short but we are making a run for it -- the funds need to be raised by Thursday, September 15.
Molly's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to those who are compelled to donate.
Thank you for your support, prayers and love!
**Note: To make the donation process smoother for everyone, we have designated Molly's father, Richard McConville, as the beneficiary / recipient of the funds. He will then wire the funds to Molly and / or escrow to complete the down payment for the house. This way, we can avoid cumbersome paperwork for each donor contributing to the down payment. We have sought counsel from our tax and financial advisors and this was determined to be the best / simplest course of action.**
