Molly's Gender Affirmation Fundraiser

Donation protected
TL/DR:
Molly is having a gender affirmation surgery! Because of our problematic healthcare system, Molly has fairly significant out of pocket expenses that she would not have if she were cisgender. Please contribute to her fundraising campaign if you are able to do so!

The longer version:
Molly is one of the most loving, fierce, and brave women I have ever met. She lives her life openly and vulnerably. She loves her friends, her family, and her queer community deeply and selflessly. She brings humor into the world, and works every day to make the world a better and safer place for other trans and queer people. Molly puts positive, healing energy and love out into the world every day. She now needs to be the recipient of some similar love and support.

Molly is having a gender affirming procedure and needs her community and loved ones to lift her up financially. The expenses connected to this procedure are significantly larger than they should be due to the fact that our already broken healthcare system is controlled by cissexist gatekeepers. This means, Molly has had to – and continues to have to – jump through hoop after expensive hoop in order to prove to a bunch of cisgender people in power that she is worthy of existing as her authentic self. (For a more detailed explanation of the systemic barriers and deep seeded cissexism Molly has to fight, please read Julia Serano’s Whipping Girl.)

Here’s a note from Molly:

Hi, everyone -

Please help me fix my junk.

It feels strange asking family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers, for help. I'm so fortunate to have friends who will ask for me (thank you for writing this, annie). If you are able to contribute and/or share this post it will help immensely. To be clear — unlike many of my fellow Trans folx, my privilege has allowed me the opportunity to have health insurance. However, my deductible, coinsurance (aka patient's responsibility), co-pays, fees, and other out-of-pockets are making this financially difficult for me.

Thank you very much for your time and thoughtful consideration in reading and sharing this.

Queerly yours,
-molly

Molly needs her community to step up and support her now. Please show her some love by contributing as much as you are able. If you’re not able to contribute financially, please share this fundraiser with your networks and send Molly a message of support.

Below is a list of the known and anticipated expenses in order to be transparent with how your contributions will be used.

If you have any questions about the expenses, about why this ask is being made, about being trans, or any other questions that may require emotional labor in the response, please send them to me, Molly’s friend annie, via the “contact the organizer” function on this campaign. If you wish to send messages of support, please send them directly to Molly via the comment feature.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting my dear friend Molly and for helping to right some of the many injustices trans people experience.
