“Walking to EVOLVE- Find your Path to HOPE”.
Hi, my name is Molly DeBlasio and I am planning an intent walk of 20 miles in a day when our county turns to the green phase. This will be my first intent walk and I am working towards a walk of 100 miles before the end of summer. I have been inspired by 2 different people. Leon Logothetis has a show on Netflix called The Kindness Diaries. If you have not watched this YOU HAVE TO!!! He travels the world with no money and has to rely on the kindness of strangers. He spreads his kindness along the way to make a difference in the world. I also read a book this summer called Walking to Listen 4,000 Miles Across America by Andrew Forsthoefel. This book inspired me to do some soul searching and asking myself how I can learn more about myself and how can I also serve to make the world a better place . I decided my 1st walk will be completing 20 miles in one day and realized that I needed to figure out what my intent is for my walk. Last week I did one of my training walks at a local preserve. While there, I meditated at a mark called the Peacock Tree and found my intent. Many words were flooding my brain but I kept coming back to the same word "evolve"...to develop gradual from a simple to a more complex form. I walk to evolve...evolve emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically...it is a process that never ends and as you keep evolving you get more layers of yourself...healthy layers and not so healthy layers. On my intent walk I will be peeling back all the layers and evolving to learn even more about myself to grow and serve in this world.
As I was rounding the end of my walk at the preserve an elderly couple I walked past said " Oh you went the wrong way on this path you are coming up against a big hill ahead". I smiled and asked "Is it a good one?"...and inside I chuckled to myself. Hills and climbing and the hard stuff is normally my path...I have to keep a tough exterior and muscle through thinking I don't deserve grace or help ..that is a layer I have learned to hold on to and has become a way of survival...on my "evolve walk" that is one of the layers I will be peeling away...not in a sense of getting rid of my fiestiness, my perseverance, my unsinkable attitude to get through tough stuff but to know I am worthy to evolve and receive grace and ask for help. As I continue planning my intent walk, God spoke to me and has shown me that this walk is not only about my mental health. He showed me another intent of this walk is to give back to those in the mental health field trying to bring awareness to the world. If there has ever been a time where we need to bring to light our mental and emotional health it is now. Mental illnesses are real and they need to be treated with grace and care just like any other illness. We need to know that it is OK to say I need help, I am struggling, and it is OK to, not be OK.
My walk is for me to evolve but I am also asking you to consider to donate to my GO FUND ME PAGE which 100% proceeds will go to the Non Profit A PATH TO HOPE This Non Profit is run by its fearless determined leader Holly O’Connell. Her organization has been doing so many amazing things in our community to help and serve those that struggle with mental health issues. They help families find resources about mental illness, guide parents navigating the process of finding the right care for their child, share information about mental health awareness with educators and diligently educate our society and community. A PATH TO HOPE continues to give grace and compassion to those people struggling showing them they are not alone in their journey and deserve to be heard and be helped. As I walk my PATH not only for my mental health but for the mental health of all of us who are struggling, please consider supporting and donating to this go fund me page. We are all in this together and your PATH can always lead to HOPE.
