Molly and Jordan’s IVF Journey

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

Thank you for taking the time out to read our story, my name is Molly and in 2016 I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. I was 16 years old. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes. Endometriosis can affect women of any age. It's a long-term condition that can have a significant impact on your life, and there is no cure. Symptoms of endometriosis include pain in your lower tummy or back (pelvic pain), severe period pain and pain during or after sex. I’ve fainted with the pain, I lose all sensation in my legs when my flare up is really bad.

Since being diagnosed with Endometriosis I have had 4 operations to remove endometriosis fibroids and cysts, approximately 1 every 2 years, you are only meant to have surgeries if they are 4 years apart. There are 4 stages of endometriosis and right now I am at stage 3.

I was told at the age of 16, with no parent around me in hospital, that it was better to ‘have a child now, rather than later’.

In 2018 I met my husband Jordan, he loved me despite of my condition, despite of what that meant for him having children in the future. 2 years into our relationship, we started trying for a child, 5 years down the line and our help to achieve this, have been little.

My consultant advised us that we would need specialist treatment IVF to conceive a child. Because we were trying for a baby I had to come off all of my medication which was helping to ease my symptoms, I am unable to now take my Morphine, Tramadol, etc. Right now I am only taking paracetamol, which does nothing for the growth and spreading of my endometriosis. In order to have this baby I have to grin and bare the excruciating pain that I have on a daily basis but especially on my menstrual cycles, I have had to go into A&E to try and get the pain under control. I refuse to go back on my strong pain relief even if there is only a small chance of us conceiving naturally at least I can say I tried everything I could to have a baby. I have been prescribed Metformin and Clomid, and we are still struggling.

I have been in severe pain for around 14 years now, but I cannot do anything about it unless I want to miss the chance of having a baby.
I have always wanted to be a mother and now I have found that perfect partner to do all of this with. The negative pregnancy tests, the periods that don’t come, have all had a negative impact on my life.

My endometriosis has decided to go even more out of control but we really want to be able to fill our house with love and laughter and raise great children to contribute to our world.

We appreciate anything that anyone can do for us to at least get us started, we know it is a strange request, but our IVF is totalling at nearly £10,000.

Even if I don't make this goal I would be happy that I was able to raise awareness for Endometriosis and I hope this story and my story will be able to help you.
