Mollie’s Recovery: Help give Mollie a bright future at home

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

I never imagined I would be writing something like this, but today I’m asking for your help for my cousin, Mollie — a beautiful, brave 13-year-old who means the absolute world to our family.

Mollie is (and always has been) full of life. She’s active, loves the outdoors, and has the most bubbly, infectious personality. She’s the kind of person everyone is drawn to — making friends wherever she goes. She is such a caring and loving young girl, always putting others before herself, no matter what.

That’s just who she is.

Mollie had only just celebrated her 13th birthday in January.

Just weeks later, in February 2026, her life changed forever.

Mollie was a passenger in a car involved in a devastating crash.

In those first critical moments, the emergency services — including SECAMB and the incredible Kent & Surrey Air Ambulance — worked tirelessly to save her life. Thanks to their skill, speed, and dedication, Mollie was airlifted to King’s College Hospital in London to receive urgent, life-saving care.

We will never be able to thank them enough, and as part of this fundraiser, we would love to donate to Kent & Surrey Air Ambulance as a small way of showing our gratitude for giving Mollie a chance to still be here with us today.

Mollie’s ongoing fight

In the days and weeks that followed, Mollie spent time in Critical Care, followed by HDU, and was later transferred to a surgical ward.

However, after further operations, she has had to return to Critical Care at times, showing just how serious and ongoing her condition still is.

There were moments where we were told to prepare for the worst… that she might not survive.

But Mollie is a fighter.

She has shown incredible strength, courage, and determination, and she has surpassed every expectation placed in front of her.

She still has a long journey ahead, with further scans, surgeries, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation to come.

The true reality we, as a family, now face

While we are beyond grateful that Mollie is still with us, the reality of her injuries is something no family is ever prepared for.

Mollie has suffered severe brain damage and will now live with permanent disabilities.

Her life — and all of ours — has changed forever.

She will need ongoing care, support, and specialist equipment to help her live as comfortably, safely, and happily as possible.

Bringing Mollie Home

Right now, our biggest wish is to bring Mollie home — back to where she belongs, with her mum and her two sisters, who she misses so much.

Mollie cannot wait to be back with them, surrounded by love, familiarity, and the comfort of home.

At the moment, her mum is staying in London to be by Mollie’s side every single day while she remains in hospital.
It’s been incredibly difficult for the whole family being apart like this.

Mollie still has a long journey ahead before she can come home. She will need further surgeries, as well as ongoing physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

But we want to be ready for that moment.

By starting now, we can begin putting everything in place so that when Mollie is finally able to come home, it’s to a safe, comfortable space built around her needs.

We are also now facing the reality that the home Mollie should be returning to may no longer be suitable.

This means we may have to sell the family home and move to a bungalow or a more accessible property — something that adds even more emotional and financial pressure at an already incredibly difficult time.

What funds we need help with please

To make this possible, we need to adapt a home and provide the essential equipment Mollie will rely on every day:

  • Home adaptations (ramps, widened doorways, structural changes): £30,000 – £80,000+
  • Ground floor bedroom conversion: £15,000 – £40,000
  • Ground floor wet room: £15,000 – £50,000
  • Wheelchair-accessible vehicle: £25,000 – £60,000+
  • Medical-grade profiling bed: £2,000 – £8,000
  • Pressure-relieving mattress: £1,000 – £5,000
  • Hoists (mobile & ceiling track): £3,000 – £15,000+
  • Specialist wheelchairs: £5,000 – £30,000+
  • Specialist posture chair: £2,000 – £10,000
  • Rehabilitation equipment: £1,000 – £10,000
  • Additional equipment & home adjustments: £10,000+
  • Moving costs & adapting a new home: £10,000s+

These costs are estimates based on our research, and some may be higher depending on Mollie’s ongoing needs.
We are incredibly grateful that some of Mollie’s care will be supported by the NHS, but there are still significant gaps — especially when it comes to home adaptations, specialist equipment, and acting quickly.

We are also facing long waiting times for support such as PIP assessments and potential Motability access for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, which means we cannot afford to wait.

Trust & Transparency

We want to be completely open about how the funds will be used.

All money raised will go directly to Mollie’s mum to support Mollie’s care, equipment, home adaptations, and overall well-being.

If we are fortunate enough to raise funds quickly, we may choose to purchase a more suitable, accessible property rather than adapting the current home — ensuring Mollie has the best possible environment from the start.

If we are able to secure a suitable wheelchair-accessible vehicle at a lower cost than expected, any remaining funds will go towards Mollie’s long-term care and future needs.

If we exceed our target, additional funds will continue to support Mollie’s ongoing care, therapies, and equipment as her needs evolve. We would also like to donate a portion to Kent & Surrey Air Ambulance as a thank you for the incredible care they gave Mollie.

We will continue to share updates so you can see the difference your support is making.

How can you help Mollie?

We know times are difficult, but if you are able to donate — even just £1 — it would mean more than we can ever say.

Every single donation brings us one step closer to bringing Mollie home.

If you can’t donate, simply sharing this page would mean the world to us.

More than anything, we just want to bring Mollie home — back to the place she knows, surrounded by the people who love her most.

Every donation, no matter how small, is a step closer to making that possible.

Thank you for helping us give Mollie the comfort, care, and future she deserves.

With love and gratitude,
Sam
