Mold Took Our Home; Help Us Recover
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shelby Palmer and I’m fundraising for our family as we begin to rebuild our lives after a devastating discovery.
For the past year, we’ve been watching our little boy change before our eyes — sudden behavioral shifts, extreme emotional outbursts, neurological symptoms, and a heartbreaking decline in his health. After months of confusion, testing, and gut-wrenching doctor visits, we finally got answers.
Walker’s body is severely contaminated with mold, and he has been diagnosed with PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome), triggered by this toxic exposure. It’s been terrifying — watching your child struggle and not knowing how to help. But now we know what we’re up against.
We’ve begun an intense detox protocol that will take 3–6 months, along with a strict gluten- and dairy-free diet to support his healing. But the source of the mold? It was our own home.
A couple months ago, I had a deep mother’s intuition that our house was making Walker sick, so we moved out temporarily. When we returned for the first time in a month (our house was listed for sale), we were met with devastation. Our home was covered in mold — on every surface. Tables, toys, carpets, cabinets, clothing, couches… everything is contaminated and unsafe to keep.
We have lost everything.
• Baby keepsakes and clothing
• Personalized books from baby showers
• Our family’s clothes, furniture, and beds
• My wedding dress
• Our children’s toys, books, and homeschool supplies
• All gone.
Even more heartbreaking — our insurance won’t cover any of it. Because the mold originated in our crawlspace, they’ve denied all claims for both the house and the contents. It will cost over $50,000 just to remediate the home… and yet we still won’t be able to recover a single item.
We are devastated, grieving, and starting completely over — but more than anything, we just want Walker to be well again.
We’re humbly asking for help as we walk through this unimaginable season. Donations will go toward:
• Walker’s detox treatments and supplements
• Doctor visits, labs, and alternative therapies
• Upfront costs for immediate moving to a new, safe, mold free home
• Replacing essential items we lost (clothing, furniture, basic essentials)
Every donation — no matter the size — is a lifeline right now. If you’re unable to give, we would be so grateful if you shared our story and lifted Walker in prayer.
From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for walking beside us as we rebuild, heal, and hold onto hope.
With love,
Shelby Palmer and Family
