Hi everyone. A few people have asked how they could help with my emergent home situation. A couple of weeks ago, my daughter and I discovered mold growing in the house. We first discovered it in my bedroom closet on the floor. Since then, we’ve found more inside my bathroom, my bedroom, my daughter’s bedroom, and our dining room. With toxic mold, there’s no saving most items and we’ve had to throw away most of our belongings. Clothes, shoes, keepsakes, photos. My daughter had to throw away all but one pair of shoes. We both have to get rid of our beds, including mattresses and bed frames, as both are made of wood. We’ve been told any porous material needs to be thrown out, as it can’t be properly cleaned once mold has spread to it. We’re also going to have to pull up our laminate flooring and any contaminated material underneath. There are professional companies that do mold remediation in order to ensure proper clean-up and lessen any health risks, but they’re incredibly expensive, as you can imagine.

Our home insurance is refusing to cover any remediation for us and we’re at a loss. This isn’t an easy thing for either of us to do; we don’t like asking for money, but so many have insisted on helping that I felt this would be the best way to do it. We both understand these rough economic times and sincerely appreciate any help at all and can’t thank you enough. 

All funds raised would be used for clean-up, supplies for clean-up, like trash bags, Benefect Decon 30 cleaner, replacement items, restoration, an hotel/motel stay when the floors are pulled out, and any expenses related to such.
