I'm Allison Leigh Holt, an artist in the SF Bay Area.
In 09.2021, a mold infestation destroyed most of my stuff: I lost my apartment / art studio in Oakland, CA (shoes, clothing, library, equipment, art, furniture) and my business. I'm now extremely allergic to mold and dust.
From 09.2022 - 12.2022, I moved twenty (20) times. I was ineligible for unemployment, and unable to work until 01.2023.
In 04.2023, I accepted a funded PhD seat at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY) (after three years of non-funded offers), and was also awarded a Lucas Artists Fellowship at Montalvo Art Center (CA). My work, practice, and spirit are strong despite colossal loss.
I am generally a self-reliant person, but I need help transporting my body, my car, and what remains of my life and studio across the country.
Any assistance-- from $5 to $500-- will enable me to:
- Pack and ship my work: est. $1500 (glass, electronics, large steel mounts + armatures)
- Repair my 2005 Subaru Forester: est. $1000
- Ship office, kitchen, and bath items: est. $500
- Buy camping gear and reserve camp sites x-co: est. $300
- Put a bike rack on the Subaru: est. $200
- Put fossil fuel into the Subaru's combustion engine: est. $550
- Put plant-based food into my happy face: est. $150
- Mitigate contingencies on my 3000 mile journey: est. $800
