Free Moi's Liver

Holla! I'm Hisham Go Pangcoga, most people call me Moi, I'm from the Philippines and here's my story.

Back in May 2014, my family had a horrible news when we found out that my eldest brother, Rowden, has stage IV liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) and 3 weeks to live. It caught us totally off-guard as he did not experience any symptom until couple of weeks prior. Weeks later, he fulfilled his promise to his fiance and married her in the hospital. 10 hours after the couple said their vows, my brother passed away. He was 29 years old.

A month later, my whole family had ourselves screened for possible cancer or blood defect, only to find out that my second elder brother Hasset, also carry the same type of liver cancer at stage III and liver cirrhosis. I, on the other hand, also have liver cirrhosis. Hasset, who was a chef, immediately had a surgery to remove the tumor in his liver, only for it to grow again. He also tried alternative medication. In August 2015, he opted to do chemotherapy through TACE, it proved to be ineffective as it weakened his body. October 2015, Hasset passed away. He was 29 years old.

Today, I'm 27 years old. I work in a financial firm. My above average wage allow me to support my mom, who had raised me and my brothers alone as a single mom; also living with us are Rowden's widow Liezl and their 5-year old daughter Zakiah. For the past 2 years I have been taking maintenance meds that costs 8 USD a day, I regularly get blood screening and MRI to monitor my liver. The most recent one was last month, and it wasn't the most thrilling result. Doctors found a 3cm in diameter tumor in my liver, as well as several nodules spreading around it. It is the same liver cancer my brothers suffered.

Doctors gave me 3 options as short term solution to the tumor: a surgery, RFA, and TACE. Each one has its own set of pros and cons. Each will cost me 3,000 - 4,000 USD per session and I likely have to do it 2-4 times a year, depending on how aggressive the cancer is. The long term solution is to undergo liver transplant which costs 100,000 USD if done in our local gov't hospital (PGH).

I'm setting this GoFundMe account as I have received numerous request from friends and family around the globe who wants to extend help. I am very positive that I will defeat this little devil by staying faithful to my Lord and God, Jesus Christ. I also have no shortage of encouragement from people I hold dear. I'm keeping an openmind in terms of medication and what approach to take in treating this. I will keep posting updates here and I hope to also hear from everyone. I love you all and God bless.
