May Allah have mercy on our brother Mohamud Sharif who passed away on Tuesday, September 13th. He has been a member of our community who has silently served the path of Allah, never seeking pleasure or recognition from any but Him. We pray to Allah to accept all his good deeds, forgive his shortcoming and give him an immeasurable reward on the day of judgment. May Allah give patience and forbearance to those closest to him whose hearts ache more than others.
Al-Farooq calls on the Muslim community of Nashville to support his family as they transition into this new reality in their life. Let us stand with them in their grief and lessen the burden for them to the best of our abilities. He was a pillar of stability in his service to the community, so let's create a pillar that gives stability to his family. Let us do this not only out of love for him and care for those he left behind but as a duty on every Muslim to the dictate of Allah to support the orphans in our community. Doing it for Allah's sake, seeking only His pleasure and a reward from Him.
76:8
وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًۭا وَيَتِيمًۭا وَأَسِيرًا ٨
and give food—despite their desire for it—to the poor, the orphan, and the captive,
76:9
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءًۭ وَلَا شُكُورًا ٩
˹saying to themselves,˺ “We feed you only for the sake of Allah, seeking neither reward nor thanks from you.
With this in mind, we seek to raise funds for the family and ask every able member of the community to support to the best of their ability. For any questions, do not hesitate to contact Imam Abdirahman. Jazakallah Kheyran.
